Celebrating London’s Debt Advice Heroes
On Friday 4th May, Toynbee Hall hosted the annual Capitalise Conference at The Foundry in Oval, where all 28 debt advice providers who make up the Capitalise Debt Advice partnership get together.
The conference is an opportunity to share experiences, highlight the successes and look at how we can provide better advice to people facing financial challenges.
Last year 22,298 people with debt and money problems were helped across the Capitalise partnership. With debt advice centres across London overwhelmingly in demand, this was a chance to look at how to better provide high quality, reliable advice when it’s need it most.
At the conference we heard from people with lived experience of debt who shared their stories of financial hardship and some of the good and bad advice they received. This is part of a project where people with lived experience will inform debt advice providers how they can offer better advice and build more trust with their clients.
Debt Advice Heroes
This year, we wanted to celebrate the amazing commitment and dedication of advisors from across the partnership. We asked advisors to nominate their #debtadvicehero, so they we could give a special to the people who go the extra mile for their clients.
Here are some true Debt Advice Heroes as nominated by their colleagues:
Another bit of #MondayMotivation from @marthalawton talking about how the work her team do with people who give credit can lead to a fairer system for people in debt.
