Our Impact in numbers

Here are some of the numbers that measure the impact of our work in the local community and further afield in 2015/16:


How we helped younger people

  • Make it! provided 124 hours of direct support to 36 young people over a nine month period, transforming lives like Stephen's

  • 89% of Make it! participants demonstrated increased confidence after the project

  • 300 young people participated in Be Active, taking part in outdoor pursuits, working as part of a team and breaking down barriers between communities across East London


Advice services

5,629 people accessed our advice services in 2015-16.

  • Free Legal advice - in 2015/16, 1,304 people visited the Free Legal Advice Centre and 92% of those said that this service helped them to feel empowered

  • City Advice - City Advice saw 1,051 clients on outreach and 250 over the phone

  • Debt Advice - the total number of the people seen throughout the Capitalise Partnership was 20,423 of these 1,595 people were seen by Toynbee Hall

  • Macmillan Benefits advice - Our Macmillan service helped 711 cancer patients claim over £2million benefits entitlement


How we helped older people

  • In 2015/16 our Wellbeing Centre had 2,718 visits, a 14% increase on the previous year

  • 68% of City 50+ users reported they were better able to deal with their problems


Financial inclusion and Financial health

  • Since 2012, the Money Mentors programme has trained 350 people in Tower Hamlets and has now expanded across London, training a further 32 people in Newham, Croydon and Lambeth

  • 10 people participated in in groundbreaking new SnapSpend project, a money management app that tracks the spending of consumers who primarily use cash

  • 439 people joined the Financial Health Exchange, an online portal of information and resources to help organisations across the UK create a fairer, more financially health society

  • 10 credit unions skilled up to provide financial health support to their communities

  • 45 Lloyds Banking Group staff trained to deliver financial education to young people


Volunteers

  • Over 400 volunteers gave 24,845 hours of their time to support our Free Legal Advice Centre

  • 82% or our volunteers felt more confident as a result of their volunteering


Bringing the community together

  • Our community organisers had 845 one to one conversations with members of the local communtiy

  • We worked with 44 partners to share archive material on social reform to inspire the next generation


Deesha

  • 239 local women enrolled on our Deesha ESOL classes

  • 82% of Deesha ESOL students considered themselves as confident, in comparison to just 26% at the beginning of the project
