Bring and Fix Event at Toynbee Hall

The event will promote the excellent services we provide but also to celebrate our staff, service users and volunteer’s hidden skills that can be shared via Time Banking.

Tower Hamlets tops Child Poverty Indicators

A map produced by the End Child Poverty campaign shows that Tower Hamlets has the highest incidence of child poverty in the country and that the Bethnal Green and Bow parliamentary constituency where Toynbee Hall is located has the highest number of children living in poverty at 51%

Toynbee Hall Xmas Opening Hours

We would like to wish all our service users and visitors to the website a Happy Christmas and Holiday Season.

Please note that most Toynbee Hall services will not be running between 23rd December and 3rd January.

The exceptions are the City Advice helpline and Older People's Lunch and Day Centre which will be open for limited hours during this period.

Toynbee Hall Launches 2011 Impact Report

Toynbee Hall has launched its second annual report highlighting the significant impact the organisation continues to have through assisting people in need and influencing key decision makers. Over the past year Toynbee Hall helped make a difference to the lives of over 6,000 people through advice services, community learning projects, well being services for older people, financial inclusion projects and the Safe Exit project which works with women involved in street-based prostitution.

The Clock that stopped for Profumo keeps time again

The Toynbee Hall clock mysteriously stopped ticking on 9^th March 2006 just moments after 2.45am, the time that John Profumo died. Profumo, better known as Jack, was Toynbee Hall’s longest standing volunteer giving over 40 years of service, but who was perhaps better known for his involvement in the Christine Keeler scandal which rocked the Government of the day in 1963.
