Financial Inclusion
Toynbee Hall aims to improve the lives of people experiencing financial exclusion and to prevent financial exclusion among those most at risk of its effects. It does this by providing:
- Financial capability training and money guidance to people in need across London through SAFE and Capitalise, London’s debt advice partnership
- Developing resources to aid its work and support the work of others, including the Personal Finance Handbook, Guides to Delivering Financial Literacy and the Guide to Identification (to be published shortly).
- Training to other organisations wishing to promote financial inclusion.
- Networking opportunities and information to organisations through Transact.
Our financial inclusion teams help people on low incomes manage their money on a day to day basis effectively, securely and confidently through provision of financial capability workshops and individual Money Guidance.
We support individual decision making through informed choice discussions and, in partnership with financial services providers, helps people action those choices. Toynbee Hall has particular expertise in helping people access and use basic banking facilities, including the preparation of identification for account opening.
We help people plan for the future and cope with financial pressure through our capability work and provision of information and guidance on retirement planning, Child Trust Fund and saving for Christmas (Save Xmas campaign).
Toynbee Hall provides debt advice as the lead partner of Capitalise to help people deal effectively with financial distress.
