Older People's Engagement Volunteer
Role description:
Toynbee Hall’s Day Centre and Lunch Club provides older people with a supportive space to come together, eat lunch, have help solving problems and reduce social isolation. We want to increase the number and variety of activities available to the people using the service, and increase the social engagement within the service.
Engagement volunteers will support us in engaging with older people, planning and running activities which meet service users interests, helping service users to run their own activities, or simply to sit and have a chat. Volunteers will also help with day to day running of activities from time to time (making tea for service users etc). We also need volunteers to escort service users on the mini-bus when going on shopping trips.
Volunteers could help to plan and run very different activities, depending their skills and interests. These could be anything from playing the piano and leading a cockney knees up; getting people engaged with art, learning or discussion; or getting people talking about things that matter to them.

Aspire Volunteer Coach
Toynbee Hall is currently looking for volunteer coaches to work with young people taking part in our groundbreaking Aspire Project.
Aspire uses informal education practices to engage Year 9 students who are marginalised / overlooked within the school system. The project runs for a full academic year and aims to make a real difference to the lives of young people by offering them opportunities to gain new experiences and face new challenges.
The programme of activities aims to improve the social wellbeing, self esteem and confidence of young people through creative and team based workshops, including out of school excursions and residential trips outside of Tower Hamlets.
You will play a vital role in guiding the young people through the course of the project, helping them to engage with and get the most out of the activities.
Aspire will place you in a team with two other Volunteer Coaches. Your objective as an effective team player will be to plan and deliver fortnightly in-school coaching sessions to 10 young people. There will also be the opportunity to support the young people in workshops outside of school.
