In 2005-6 volunteers contributed £606,511 to Toynbee Hall based on the 2005 Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE) mean average figures for part-time and full-time workers who live in London.

Today more than 500 volunteers support the work of Toynbee Hall each year contributing an average of 1,600 hours a month to our wide range of programmes. Volunteers significantly enhance the capacity of our services and provide the Toynbee Hall team with increased talent, passion and drive.

There are two ways of applying to volunteer at Toynbee Hall:

Volunteers are at the heart of our continuous development. Therefore volunteering roles change all the time and we usually have short closing dates. We recommend registering your interest and subscribing to our Volunteer Newsletter so we can let you know about upcoming opportunities.

Our projects follow best practice in volunteer management and we have recently achieved the Investing in Volunteers Quality Standard, recognising the excellent work Toynbee Hall does with volunteers.

Our three Volunteering Programmes are created for different groups to meet specific needs of the volunteers and Toynbee Hall projects:

  • Residential Volunteering Programme

  • Employee Volunteering Programme
