Our impact

We have one clear aim for all the work we do at Toynbee Hall.

We want to help people improve their lives.

Toynbee Hall is situated in one of the most disadvantaged areas of the UK. Tower Hamlets has the highest rate of child poverty in London. It is the second most deprived borough in London and is the third most deprived borough nationally. Many of the people we work with are facing unemployment, poor housing and a lack of aspiration.

We work to:

  • Provide free support and advice for people struggling with debt, benefits, welfare and legal issues.

  • Give people the financial know-how to improve their lives.

  • Help people get the skills, wellbeing, confidence and opportunities to improve their lives.

All our services - from working with older people, to our advice services, youth projects or national partnerships - use evaluation tools that help us understand the impact of our work on the lives of the people we support, and identify new areas of need.
